Today’s COOL DUDE is this guy, Art Rosenbaum. For more than 50 years he has been archiving and collecting the folk music of a dying generation of multicultural America, which were all released on one huge boxset a while back. This quote I love - “Even after 50 years of combing town and country for sounds to feed his tape deck, songcatcher Art Rosenbaum’s heart must still pump adrenaline with each new knock on a screen door.”
Rosenbaum’s podcast ‘Backroads and Banjos’ highlights stories and encounters with Blues royalty like Skip James and Blind Willie Johnson, plus a whole load of amazing ethnic artists from all over. In fact, while I’m at it…I recently found the album Buell Kazee Sings & Plays on Spotify, which is an awesome collection of folk songs too, interspersed with banjo tales and lovely shit like that.
